I discovered the lifestyle company Armommy through Jones Design Company, and I’m delighted to share with you this great source. Rae and her mom, Jane, have done so many wonderful things developing their business and products that assist moms and do it with style!

She has many products in her arsenal…

The smib bib, which is part smock and part bib, comes in a nice generous size and darling patterns! And she makes them in patterns for boys too… not always easy to find. I can’t wait to try it on my 9-month-old son, Henry Brooks.

these beautiful custom clothing labels…

stationery (oh how i love paper products) and notice her great logos and graphic design… spot on in my opinion… love it!

and my personal favorite… the door bumper!

I live in an older home, and two of my doors do not set level and “slam” somewhat, enough to wake a sleeping baby. When I saw this door bumper, I was so excited. It’s a brilliant idea for an older home and to protect little fingers in any home! And it’s cute… hello lattice fabric… I need TWO!

And these placemats! She had me instantly with the silhouettes. And monograms, these are so cute!

Rae is not only creative, she also has a heart for moms… read more about that here.

Bottom line, I love her aesthetic and how she does business. I’ve responded to what she is doing both from the viewpoint of being a mom and consumer and also as a businessperson and designer. She just hits it on all levels… totally inspiring. Check her out… you will want to order products for yourself and gifts as well take note of her mad business skillz… this mama has it together!

Be sure to check out their website, blog and this video on You Tube about their company… what a great idea!

This time of year we all get the itch to change things up around our home. Of course there is no simpler way than to add fresh pillows. I’m in love with these number ones from Heidi Devlin’s Etsy shop. She is so nice and also does symbols, family names and a feed sack look.

And what says spring more than a nest?? I am so in love with blue lately! I haven’t been this in to the color blue since my ca. 1981 Holly Hobbie bedspread! (read more…)

handmade home decor: Henry’s nursery

Few things are more special or can be more of a blessing than preparing for  a new life to enter your home. Whether it’s a large room or a small corner, a baby space is special and can bring so much joy to the one making preparations.  It can also be stressful because (a) hormones are involved, (b) Mama is tired (especially if there are older siblings to care for), and (c) there are so many decorating choices and ideas out there. It can be overwhelming to say the least.  I encourage the moms I work with to do two things – keep it simple, and start early if possible!

When decorating 7-month-old-son Henry’s nursery I knew I wanted to keep much of the “bones” the same from his brother’s room: white furniture, linen colored walls (Laura Ashley Stone 2),  and white scalloped awnings.  Big brother’s room was more vintage and red… I wanted Henry’s room to have softer colors with a touch of a modern feel.
